Wendigo mythology is one of the most haunting traditions from the folklore of several Indigenous peoples of the Algonquian cultural groups. The wendigo is often described as a terrifying spirit or creature associated with greed, hunger, and the dangers of losing one’s humanity. Traditionally, stories of the wendigo served as warnings against selfishness, excess, and the desperate acts people might commit in times of starvation or hardship.
